Semester Times and Dates

 

  • SPRING SEMESTER begins on the first Saturday of March—-the first Saturday of May.  Class Times: 10:30 AM-12:15 PM
  • SUMMER SEMESTER begins on the first Friday of July—-the second Friday of September.  Class Times: 6:30 PM-8:15 PM
  • FALL SEMESTER begins the first Friday of November—-the second Friday in January.  Class Times: 6:30 PM-8:15 PM

You may register for classes up to 30 days in advance of the start date.  Our classes are small (no more than 12 students) so seating is limited.  Enrollment is on a “first come, first serve” basis so early enrollment is advised.  Tuition for our 10-week courses is just $39.00.  If you are unable to afford the tuition, please contact the school; we have sponsors ready to help.

Prices for textbooks vary from $16.99 – $20.99.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course explores the major developments within the church over the last two millennia.  Special emphasis will be given to common theological themes, studied in their historical context, along with the people, places, and events, that God used to protect and advance His Church in the midst of relentless internal and external attacks.

COURSE CONTENTS

Session 1.  The Congregation in the Wilderness
Session 2.  The First Century Church
Session 3.  Second Century Schisms and Heresies 
Session 4.  Diocletian and Constantine and the Church in the Fourth Century
Session 5.  Monasticism, Expansion, Life, and Worship
Session 6.  Christological Controversies to Chalcedon; Augustine, Pelagius, and Semipelagianism
Session 7.  The Church in the Middle Ages
Session 8.  The Eastern Churches from the Seventh to Eleventh Centuries; the Western Church from the Seventh to Ninth Centuries
Session 9.  The Western Church and the Protestant Reformation
Session 10.  The Church in the 19th, 20th, and 21st Centuries

Course Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this course.

Instructor: Guy-Curtis Henderson.

Guy-Curtis Henderson is a recent graduate of Clarks Summit University majoring in Theology and Music.  Guy is a gifted musician and a Teaching Elder at THE CHURCH.  A Biblical House of Worship, in Port Jervis, New York, where he oversees all aspects of the worship music.
